On 17 March 2020, the Department of Employment and Labour issued guidelines for employers to deal with COVID-19 at workplaces. The Department of Employment and Labour appealed to employers to use the prescriptions of the OHSA in particular the Hazardous Biological Agents Regulations governing workplaces in relation to Coronavirus Disease 2019 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

FITMed24 has received international recognition for its efforts in developing strict, cost-effective, non-intrusive screening and decontamination procedures. FITMed24 has assisted a number of companies to develop a sterile working environment against COVID 19 which go beyond the basic occupational health and safety act requires. Daily employee temperature and symptom surveillance is key to maintaining the sterile environment in which the employees are working.

This short course will assist the appointed company representative to initiate and implement an effective employee surveillance and decontamination strategy that is in line with the South African government’s Department of Employment and Labour Workplace Preparedness guideline for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-19 virus).
